DETROIT – On May 21, hockey met baseball for the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League playoff championship-winning teams.

Prior to first pitch of the Tampa Rays vs. Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park, the LCAHL title winners were honored on the field.

That meant more than 1,000 hockey people filling the outfield of the Tigers’ ballpark – with enough time for group photos, selfies and video scoreboard shout-outs.

It was the second of two days where LCAHL players and coaches were honored; regular-season title winners were welcomed onto the field on April 24th.

“Champions Day at Comerica Park offers us one more opportunity to honor our championship teams at the conclusion of the season,” said Andrew Stewart, fundraising manager for the LCAHL. “We are grateful to the Detroit Tigers staff for working with our league in making a once-in-a-lifetime experience for so many hockey players and coaches.”
