Hockey Weekend Across America starts Friday

USA Hockey’s ninth annual Hockey Weekend Across America is set to begin this Friday.

From Friday through Sunday, each day carries a special theme to help celebrate, promote and grow the game of hockey across the country.

On Friday, hockey people are encouraged to don their favorite uniform for “Wear Your Favorite Jersey Day.” This year, USA Hockey’s Facebook and Twitter accounts want people to submit photos in their jerseys as they search for the most passionate hockey fans.

Saturday is “Try Hockey Day” – an event sponsored by the NHL. More than 300 rinks in 45 states will host Try Hockey For Free clinics, allowing for thousands of children to experience the game for the first time. To find a rink near you that is participating in “Try Hockey Day,” click here.

To finish off the weekend, Sunday is “Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes Day” where people involved in the game are encouraged to develop ways to celebrate their local hockey heroes.
