The WCHA has announced their players of the week, and once again, Michigan names appear on the list.

The league has named Macomb native and Bowling Green forward Brandon Hawkins a co-offensive player of the week, while also naming Ferris State netminder Darren Smith the rookie of the week.

Hawkins, a sophomore, tied for the WCHA lead with three goals and five points this past weekend. The Falcons forward led BGSU to their highest-scoring weekend in 11 years, helping them to a home sweep of Alaska Anchorage. Hawkins racked up one goal and two assists in a 6-2 win Thursday, then two more goals in another 6-2 win on Friday.

Smith, named WCHA rookie of the week for the second straight week, has led the Bulldogs into a tie for third place after his last few outings. He led Ferris State to two overtimes at Bemidji State – a 63-save 3-2 win on Friday, and then a 35-save 1-1 tie on Saturday.
