TSN analyst Aaron Ward – a University of Michigan alum – just posted on Twitter that Red Wings prospect and Wolverines sophomore-to-be forward Dylan Larkin is expected to join the Grand Rapids Griffins soon.

If true, that means Larkin, a NTDP alum, would be forgoing his final three seasons, and making the jump to the professional ranks after playing just one year with the Wolverines. Ward’s initial report indicates that Larkin would be joining the Griffins in time for their third-round AHL playoff series with the Utica Comets.

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press is reporting the same information:

Larkin was one of five college players to compete for Team USA at the World Championships, though only one of two freshmen to do so (the other being Jack Eichel). He was named an NCAA second-team All-American at the conclusion of his season with Michigan.
