The Big Ten announced their player of the year today, and it’s a goaltender that calls East Lansing home.

Michigan State netminder Jake Hildebrand was selected by Big Ten coaches and media members as the conference’s player of the year, it was announced today.

Hildebrand, a junior from Butler, Pa., has played in 34 games for the Spartans this year, and compiled a 17-15-2 record with a .930 save percentage and 2.12 goals-against average in the process.

He played a crucial role in the Spartans’ weekend split with the Wolverines on Friday-Saturday, leading MSU to a win at Yost Saturday night to secure a first-round bye in the upcoming Big Ten Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament.
