The Detroit Red Wings officially announced today that they have re-signed goaltender Jonas Gustavsson for another season.

Gustavsson, 29, recorded a 16-5-4 record in 27 games with the Wings this season, with a 2.63 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.

He was named the NHL’s first star of the week on Oct. 20, after posting a perfect 3-0-0 record during the time frame while starting goaltender Jimmy Howard was injured.

In his first season with Detroit, the oft-injured Gustavsson posted a 2-2-1 record with a 2.92 goals-against average and .879 save percentage.

The Gustavsson re-signing indicates that highly-touted prospect Petr Mrazek will most likely be spending another season with the Grand Rapids Griffins. Mrazek, 22, posted a 22-9-1 record with a 2.10 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in his second full season with the Wings’ AHL affiliate.
