MSU’s Berry, UM’s Copp claim B1G weekly awards

The Big Ten announced their final weekly awards for their inaugural regular season today, and two Michigan natives appeared on the list.
Canton native Matt Berry, a Michigan State forward, took the No. 1 star, while Ann Arbor native Andrew Copp, a Michigan forward, took the No. 2 spot.
Former U.S. NTDP standout Brady Skjei of the Minnesota Golden Gophers was the No. 3 star of the week, as well.
Berry, an MSU junior, scored three goals over the weekend to help the Spartans to a weekend split with nationally ranked Wisconsin. Berry picked up two goals in Michigan State’s Friday night OT win, and another goal on Saturday. He is tied for fourth in the Big Ten with eight goals in conference action.
Copp, a sophomore forward for the Wolverines, had three points in a weekend split with No. 1 Minnesota. The Winnipeg Jets draft pick and NTDP product had one goal in the Wolverines’ 3-2 OT loss on Friday, and then one goal and one assist on Saturday in a 6-2 UM win. Copp is third in B1G overall goal-scoring, with 15.
