During the their Hockey Fights Cancer Night tomorrow at Joe Louis Arena, the Red Wings will be holding a bone marrow registration drive in memory of the late Shawn Burr.

When doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the 7 p.m. game against the New York Rangers, the Wings are asking that fans visit the bone marrow registration drive that they are holding in partnership with the Delete Blood Cancer DKMS behind Section 126 of the JLA concourse.

With a quick cheek swab, fans can be added to the ‘Be The Match’ Registry.

The drive is being held to also remember Shawn Burr; the former Red Wings forward had a bone marrow transplant in 2012 during his fight with acute myeloid leukemia.

According to Delete Blood Cancer DKMS, even with a registry of millions of people, six out of 10 patients never receive the life-saving transplant they need.
