The Montreal Canadiens announced today that they have signed Macomb native Michael McCarron to a three-year entry-level contract.

McCarron, a Macomb native, had committed to Western Michigan University for the 2013-14 season, but he will now play for the London Knights, the OHL club that acquired his rights in a trade with the Belleville Bulls.

MLive’s David Drew tweeted shortly after the Canadiens’ announcement that Broncos coach Andy Murray confirmed that McCarron will not be in Kalamazoo next fall.

McCarron, a product of Honeybaked and the U.S. National Team Development Program, was selected by the Canadiens at No. 25 overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
