Shaved Ice – June 4

Tuesday edition of Shaved Ice coming right up.

The Griffins look to wrap up the third round tonight when they host the Oklahoma City Barons. A Game 6 win would mean Grand Rapids’ first trip to the AHL Finals. If you’re near Van Andel, get to the game.

Yesterday the Ontario Hockey League announced that the Whalers’ Mike Vellucci has been named their executive of the year. Vellucci, the Plymouth president/GM/coach, is the first person to take home OHL exec and coach of the year honors in the same season. How’s that for some Mitten pride?

The Muskegon Lumberjacks have been sold, pending league approval. Click here to read more about the USHL club changing hands.

We posted our top 10 moments from the Red Wings’ season yesterday – check them out and let us know what you think of our choices.

Get fired up for tonight’s Griffins game.

We had stalled Shaved Ice a bit today so we could post the Carolina Hurricanes’ new jerseys in this section. Here they are:

Thoughts? It’s not some radical new design, that’s for sure…

The Penguins have quite the uphill battle now. Pittsburgh got smoked by Boston last night – it was a 6-1 final – and now the Bruins hold a 2-0 lead in a series that shifts back to Boston.

Torey Krug picked up a big assist in the game, making him our Michi-gamer…again.

Tonight, the Blackhawks and the Kings are back it, this time out in Hollywood. Los Angeles needs to win to avoid Thursday’s Game 4 being a elimination game on home ice.

Sounds like the Islanders have no plans of re-signing Mark Streit this off-season. Would the 35-year-old defenseman look good in the Winged Wheel?

Thought this was one of the best ones I’ve seen in a while.

We’ll see you later today.
