Shaved Ice – May 21

Is it Thursday yet?

Joe Louis Arena was rocking and rolling last night, as the Red Wings posted a 3-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks to take a 2-1 series lead. Click here to check out our recap from the contest. Down in the ‘Check It Out’ area, we’ve got the photo gallery from the game, by the way.

Drew Miller’s our Michi-gamer of the day, after scoring and spending way too much time on the ice for the Wings.

Thirteen Michigan connections were invited to the NHL Scouting Combine yesterday – a prestigious event designed to showcase the top draft-eligible prospects for all 30 NHL clubs.

The Griffins are back in Toronto for their series with the Marlies. Grand Rapids failed to eliminate the Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliate Saturday, as the Marlies pulled off a 4-1 win to force a Game 6 back at their home barn. That’s tonight. Hopefully the Griffins can finish it out, so nobody has to worry about a Game 7 in Grand Rapids.

Speaking of the Griffins, our latest feature on the Wings’ AHL affiliate centers around newcomer Teemu Pulkkinen and his “Holy Slapper” of a shot. Check out the article right here.

So you can just keep watching this over and over and over…

The Bruins and the Rangers tangle in Game 3 of their series tonight. Wonder what Torey Krug’s going to do this time. Boston has a 2-0 series lead, in case you weren’t sure on the series count.

Meanwhile, the Kings and the Sharks do battle out west, and Los Angeles can take a 3-1 series lead with a road win. Both Red Wings and Blackhawks fans alike should be hoping that series takes a while.

Rumor has it that Patrick Roy is going to be the next bench boss for the Colorado Avalanche. His brother won’t stop talking about it. He’s a legitimate source, right?

Check out our photo gallery from Game 3 between the Red Wings and Blackhawks.

See you later.
