Red Wings win. Will it matter, though?

The Detroit Red Wings picked up a crucial win over Phoenix last night, shutting out the Coyotes at Joe Louis Arena. Here’s our recap from the big game. The win moves the Wings within a point of No. 8 Columbus, and the Red Wings have one more game left on the schedule than the Blue Jackets do. After a break today, the Wings have back-to-back home games Wednesday and Thursday, then a showdown in Dallas to conclude the regular season.

The Jets recalled Zach Redmond from a AHL conditioning stint, which means the Michigan native is moving even closer to a remarkable comeback from his severe leg injury earlier this season. He didn’t play last night, however.

The Miami RedHawks have inked coach Enrico Blasi to a 10-year extension.
