Shaved Ice – April 2

The trading game is in full swing.

The Red Wings picked up a big 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche yesterday at Joe Louis Arena. See our recap and a few photos from the game by clicking right here.

Justin Abdelkader scored the Wings’ first goal of the night, knocking a puck out of midair for his seventh of the season. We named him today’s Michi-gamer after his impressive goal.

Tomorrow is the NHL trade deadline, and MiHockey writer Dave Waddell says it’s unlikely that the Wings make any sort of move before the roster freeze.

Our latest feature on the Grand Rapids Griffins centers around top prospect Calle Jarnkrok, who is in town to play a few games with the Griffins before he returns to Sweden.

Red Wings highlights from last night.

Jaromir Jagr is shipping out to Boston. The Stars have traded the future hall-of-famer to the Bruins in exchange for two prospects and a draft pick. Bob McKenzie of TSN is reporting that one of the players being moved is Plymouth Whalers right winger Cody Payne.

Former MSU assistant coach George Gwozdecky is out at Denver in a surprising firing that had yours truly thinking it was an April Fools joke yesterday.

Derek Roy has been traded to the Vancouver Canucks.

Sidney Crosby has been released from the hospital after having a whole lot of dental work done.

Marc-Andre Bergeron has been traded from the Lightning to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Former Bronco Mark Letestu has signed a two-year extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The NHL’s new ad campaign is out, and the league’s celebrating some of the ‘weird’ traditions around the game.

More to come, see you later on.

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew
of any widgets I could add to my blog that
automatically tweet my newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
