Red Wings vs. Oilers tonight.

The Wings welcome that team with all the young talented prospects to Joe Louis Arena tonight. The Oilers are currently in 13th place in the West (the Wings are in 6th), yet they’re also only three points out of a playoff spot. Talk about a wild-and-crazy NHL season…lose one game and all of a sudden you’re on the outside looking in.

Our latest Red Wings feature takes a look at defenseman Brian Lashoff and his rise to the NHL after never being drafted.

The Ontario Hockey League announced their performers of the month this week, and all three of the players named have Michigan ties.

Stompin’ Tom Connors – the Canadian folk-country legend behind “The Hockey Song” – passed away yesterday. He was 77. Here’s a live performance of his song that will live on, and on, and on, in rinks across the world (with a nice surprise at the start of the video, too). We thank you, Tom.

The Senators’ Dave Dziurzynski was knocked unconscious during a fight last night, which once again raises the question…where does fighting stand in our sport?
