Our friend Matt Wellens at the Mining Journal is reporting that Northern Michigan goaltender Jared Coreau has tentatively agreed to a deal with the Detroit Red Wings. The Wildcats’ goaltender – one of the top goaltenders in the CCHA this season – would forego his senior season if he signed with the Wings.

The Big Ten released their logo and ticket information for the inagural Big Ten Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament, which will be held on March 20-22, 2014 in Saint Paul, Minn. Tickets go on sale next Monday. Here’s the logo (I think it looks like a Twitter hashtag).

Compuware Midget Minor defenseman Sean Day has been the talk of the OHL circles of late – whether he will be the latest player granted exceptional status to enter the league early. However, the team with the No. 1 pick, the Ottawa 67s, say they might not even pick Day first overall if he’s cleared. 

It’s often said that it looks like a video game when Pavel Datsyuk scores a goal. So somebody actually made it into a video game. Here’s Datsyuk’s goal against the Predators a few weeks back, with a little help from NHL ’94.

Former Mr. Hockey winner Ben Johnson, a forward with the Windsor Spitfires, has been accused of sexual assault from two two different incidents. Johnson, a Calumet native, is out on bail currently. We will certainly be keeping an eye on this case.

Ryan Miller has apologized to teammate Patrick Kaleta after comments about how Kaleta was being ‘dramatic’ when he was named a healthy scratch following a five-game suspension.

Corey Perry can buy a few new surfboards for his lengthy stay in Cali – the Ducks’ forward signed a eight-year, $69 million deal yesterday.

Vinny Lecavalier has a broken left foot, according to an NHL.com report.
