Shaved Ice – March 15

Huge weekend on tap.

The CCHA quarterfinals are here. Here are the match-ups we will be keeping an eye on:

  • Michigan at Western Michigan (Fox Sports Detroit tonight, with our guy Darren Eliot on the call)
  • Michigan State at Miami
  • Ferris State at Ohio State
  • Bowling Green at Notre Dame

Disappointing to know that one of the two Michigan teams at the top of that list will be eliminated after the weekend – sure wish we could get WMU, UM, MSU and FSU all at The Joe for the final CCHA championship.

Michigan Tech begins their WCHA postseason play at North Dakota – not the most friendly way to start their playoff run.

And in non-playoff college hockey news, the CCHA announced their All-Time Team today, as they continue to “Celebrate The Legacy.” Click here to see who made the list, or click on the image below.

In other news…

The NHL realignment has been made official. Click here for some info on who the Red Wings will now be sharing a division with, and click here to get Darren Eliot’s take on the big news.

After you watch the Michigan vs. Western Michigan tilt, you can watch the Wings take on the Oilers out in Edmonton.

The Griffins have a Saturday night road game with Milwaukee tomorrow, then a Sunday afternoon one in Peoria.

There’s only two regular-season games left for the Whalers – and they’re a home-and-home series with Windsor this weekend. Meanwhile, the Spirit have two home games – tonight against Kitchener, and tomorrow against London.

CCHA Now, just in time to get you ready for the playoff match-ups this weekend.

The Maple Leafs have traded David Steckel to the Ducks. Don’t look now, but Anaheim’s gearing up for a playoff run. They’re second in the West right now.

Former Red Wings pick Shawn Matthias with a superb individual effort get a shortie last night.

Chris Kunitz is our Michi-gamer…again…for helping the Penguins win their seventh straight game.

If you’ve been keeping up with the goaltending situation in Vancouver…yeah…this is awesome.

College and Wings tonight. Party on.
