Shaved Ice – Mar. 6

Big win for the Red Wings.

The Red Wings beat the Colorado Avalanche by a score of 2-1 last night. Johan Franzen and Niklas Kronwall (courtesy of quite the bounce off the end boards) scored for the Red Wings, while Jimmy Howard’s shutout was broken by Paul Stastny at the 18:30 mark of the third period. In other NHL news, Chesterfield native Steven Oleksy made his NHL debut last night. The former Lake Superior Laker signed with the Washington Capitals earlier this week, and last night played in his first NHL game, and recorded his first NHL assist. We named him our Michi-gamer of the night…and we dare you to argue why he shouldn’t be.

Plymouth Whalers goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic was named the CHL’s goaltender of the week after recording a 3-0-0-0 record with a shutout, a 1.00 goals-against average, and a .957 save percentage. Not bad, Alex. Not bad at all.
