Novi Wild Prep wins Grand Traverse JV Tournament

The Novi Wild Prep Hockey team won the Grand Traverse JV Hockey Tournament the weekend of Jan. 4 through Jan. 6.  They defeated the Midget A Rockford Rams 3-2, Grand Blanc Prep 8-0 and the Midget A Plymouth Stingrays 5-1 in divisional play on Friday and Saturday to have the top seed heading into the semifinals.

There, they topped the South Lyon Prep team 7-4 in an early Sunday morning semifinal game – it started at 7:30 a.m. – to reach the finals against the Alpena High School JV team.  They defeated Alpena 3-2 in the championship game, in a game that had a 2 p.m. puck drop.

The Grand Traverse JV Tournament comprised a field of 12 Prep, JV and Midget A hockey teams from around the state of Michigan.  Round-robin games began Friday night and continued on Saturday.
