Shaved Ice – December 3

How was your weekend? Full of hockey, I hope.

Get caught up on another wild weekend of college hockey in the Mitten with our recap of how all seven of our D1 teams did. Hint: went well for the Broncos, and not so well for everybody else.

I chatted with Jimmy Howard over the weekend – see what the Red Wings’ goaltender had to say about life during the lockout right here.

Former Spartan Tim Kennedy kicks off this week’s list of Michi-gamer nominations. Find out what he was up to this weekend by clicking on that previous link.

In major junior action, the Whalers lost 5-4 in a shootout with Kitchener Saturday night. Meanwhile, the Spirit posted 10 goals on the Ottawa 67s Saturday – that’s a lot of goals.

Here’s the highlights from Saturday’s game between the Wolverines and Bulldogs, which needed a shootout to decide a winner.

Boston College bench boss Jerry York has tied legendary MSU coach Ron Mason for the career mark for NCAA wins as a head coach. I wonder what the difference in time means for this, however – do York’s teams play more games?

A different approach to the CBA talks will take place tomorrow – a group of owners and players are going to sit down and talk without the heads of their respective sides lurking around.

The NHLPA has issued a $10,000 stipend to the players. Sure that feels great inside their wallets…can some of it go to the part-time employees at all the rinks that aren’t getting anything right now?

Check out the teddy bear toss at the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen game over the weekend. It’s absolutely awesome. Thanks to Puck Daddy for the original share.

And the view from ice level during the toss…

See you all tomorrow.
