Shaved Ice – November 21

Last Shaved Ice before Thanksgiving.

The Michigan Wolverines welcome Bowling Green to Yost tonight for a Thanksgiving Eve battle. Then the Wolverines will eat some turkey, and prepare to head to Madison Square Garden for their big game against Cornell.

Michigan State alum Chris Mueller is our Michi-gamer today, click on this link to find out why.

Muskegon Lumberjacks defenseman Mike Brodzinski was named USHL defenseman of the week – congrats to the University of Minnesota commit.

Michigan Tech alum Andy Sutton’s looking at retirement after undergoing his 12th surgery. That’s a lot of visits to the doc, we can’t blame him for wanting to be done with those.

Another lengthy lockout could mean retirement to veteran NHLers like Todd Bertuzzi, and how the Wings are getting frustrated with how the negotiations are progressing.

Trenton native Andy Greene will have his number retired by his high school tonight. Find out more about it right here. We’ll be there to get some photos of the ceremony.

The NHLPA sent a letter to a member of the Canadian parliament, and Pierre LeBrun managed to snag a copy and share it with the world.

The players’ union is also expected to give out another letter – their latest proposal to the league. Wonder how this one’s going to go over…

The Toronto Star reports that the opening of free agency might be bumped to June in the new CBA (whenever it is finalized). For journalists like myself who have always wished the ‘Christmas in July’ shopping season for GMs would start earlier – as to not interrupt our 4th of July plans with our families – this sounds terrific.

And in our final ‘Outside the Mitten’ news, somebody paid $5,300 for a toilet out of the home locker room at Maple Leaf Gardens. Why anyone would actually want to use said toilet (or display it) is beyond me.
