Shaved Ice – October 31

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Congratulations to Livonia native and former Michigan State star Bryan Lerg, who was named captain of the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters yesterday. He’s No. 20 in the photo to the right; we snapped a few from the press box during the Monsters’ preseason game against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Yost Ice Arena earlier this year.

Today’s Michi-gamer is Kalamazoo native Adam Hall, who is currently playing in Germany. Click here to see what he’s up to.

The Free Press is reporting that Patrick Eaves is still dealing with concussion-like symptoms. Terrible news.

Apparently new Red Wing Damien Brunner was jumped by a goalie in his Swiss league game, which led to a brawl. MLive has more on that right here.

Former Plymouth Whalers star Tyler Seguin is filling up the scoresheets in Switzerland, having recorded 16 points in 12 games.

This new feature from the Griffins – called Between the Benches – is phenomenal.

We’re going to kick off our ‘Outside the Mitten’ with another video. Here’s Drew Miller talking about how he is adjusting to playing hockey in Scotland. The lady interviewing him is apparently the GM of the team Miller is skating for. Does that mean we can talk Ken Holland into hosting segments of Red Wings TV?

In other hockey news…

The NTDP players had some fun with their Halloween costumes today. Check out these photos (shared on the NTDP’s Facebook page):

Waterford native Dylan Larkin pulls off the Harry Potter look quite, well. (Jake Wesolek/U.S. NTDP)

Macomb native Mike McCarron dressed up as mustard to compliment Connecticut native John Hayden's ketchup costume. (Jake Wesolek/U.S. NTDP)

Hope everybody has a great Halloween!
