Not every day one of Michigan’s own is inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame.
DO WE HAVE A DEAL? Reports are flying left and right that the NHL has offered up a 50/50 split for revenue sharing, which was at the heart of the battle between the two sides. The deal, per TSN, is contingent on an 82-game season starting on Nov. 2. Sign it, sign it, sign it…I’ll fly the pen out to Donald Fehr myself if I have to.

Why do this today?
Because if we want to have an 82-game regular season, if we want to preserve an 82-game regular season and you back up the timetable in terms of the schedule, we needed to do it.
By the way, in terms of the schedule, so everybody understands, the compression that would be involved is one additional game every five weeks. Beyond that, we don’t think it would be good for the players or for the game. But if you look at what our ability would be to schedule 82 games and you work back from November 2nd, if we didn’t do it now, if we didn’t put an effort on the table that we thought was fair and could get us playing hockey, if we didn’t do it now, then it probably wasn’t going to happen for a while. Because, again, it’s done in the spirit of getting a full season in.

So there you have it. We will now all sit and wait for Fehr to get his committee on the phone at 5 p.m. And the MiHockey team will be ready to run with whatever news comes out of it.

- Mike Modano was one of three famed members of the hockey community to be officially inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame last night. The Livonia native joined Ed Olczyk and Lou Lamoriello as the honored members of the 2012 class, after all three were announced in July.
- We named Modano our Michi-gamer of the night, since his accomplishment ranks a little higher than just a big goal on a Monday night.
- In other news, the CCHA announced their players of the week, with a Wildcat and a Bronco cracking the list.
