Yesterday, former Detroit Red Wings player Gerard Gallant was tabbed by the Montreal Canadiens to be a new assistant coach. Gallant had been the coach of the QMJHL’s Saint John Sea Dogs. In three seasons there, Gallant made three QMJHL final appearances, won two league titles, and a Memorial Cup in 2011.

Bauer has just released the new Nexus line of sticks and equipment today. Michigan’s own Ryan Kesler (Livonia) is featured on the Nexus banner on the Bauer Facebook page.

Outside the Mitten

The Rick Nash trade talks are heating up again now that the Stanley Cup Playoffs have come to an end. Ten teams, including the San Jose Sharks and Carolina Hurricanes, reportedly have a strong interest in the Columbus Blue Jackets’ star power forward.

While he would be an incredibly difficult target to aim for, Nash could be that ideal package of skill and size that the Red Wings could use at the left wing position.
