Shaved Ice – March 27

I think the Red Wings just scored again…

Quick hits

It’s not often that an NHL game is over in the first half of the first period. The Red Wings accomplished the feat last night, however, when they posted four – yes, four – goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. The Jackets, who are certainly struggling, seemed to throw in the towel before the second period even started. Final score was 7-2 Detroit, and Journey played at the 10:09 mark of the first period. That about sums it up.

Here’s our coverage from the Wolverines’ year-end press conference yesterday.

Broncos star defenseman Danny DeKeyser announced on Twitter yesterday that he will be staying at Western Michigan next season. The Red Wings had been one of several teams pursuing the free-agent defenseman.

The Whalers are looking for some postseason magic, as they are down 2-0 in their opening-round series with Guelph. The favored Whalers have their work cut out for them now. Game 3 is tonight at Compuware.

Meanwhile, Saginaw is down 2-1 in their series with Sarnia. Game 4 is tomorrow night, and they’ll be back in the Mitten.
