Another morning, another Red Wings win to comment on…

Quick hits

Dare I say that Todd Bertuzzi has the better shootout move than Pavel Datsyuk? Last night, the Wings needed the extra sessions to top the Coyotes 3-2 in Phoenix. Datsyuk tried to beat goaltender Mike Smith with his (should-be) patented backhand toe drag to wrister to the top shelf, but he was somehow stopped with a glove save. No problem for the Wings – Todd Bertuzzi used one his top moves – skate down the wing, cut out front, and reverse it to catch the goalie sliding post-to-post – to loft a backhander over Smith to get the win for the Wings. It was another big night for Bertuzzi, who also scored one of the Red Wings goals in regulation.

The win puts the Red Wings in the top spot of the entire NHL.

Tim Thomas is, once again, your Michi-gamer of the night. I might as well just always have that ready to paste into this post – he wins it, what, every other day?

Have you seen Taylor Hall’s face? Let this be a reminder to you, kids – wear a helmet.

Gary Bettman talks CBA, Coyotes – read it here.

Next up

Tonight, if the weather doesn’t lead me into a ditch, I will be in East Lansing for the Michigan State/Lake Superior showdown. Tomorrow, it’s off to the Red Wings game against Columbus. And we should have some pretty cool photos from the Michigan/Notre Dame series coming your way at some point, as well.
