Shaved Ice – Dec. 8

Another hockey-filled weekend is almost here…

Quick hits

Tonight the Red Wings welcome the Phoenix Coyotes to Joe Louis Arena. Detroit will be trying to put an end to a two-game losing streak, while Phoenix wants to stretch their winning streak to three. It’s the first match-up between the two teams since the Wings knocked them out of the playoffs for the second straight year last spring.

I will be at the Joe tonight, so keep an eye on our Twitter page for in-game updates, and come back to the site for the post-game recap.

And by the way, we started the games between Michigan and Michigan State a little early this week, having people declare which school they like more on our Facebook page. Right now the Spartans have more fans, so if you’re a Michigan fan, you should probably get on that. And if you’re a Spartan fan, you should probably also get on that, to keep your school in the lead.

Highlight reel

Ever seen Mats Sundin’s acting skills before? Yeah, me neither.

Outside the Mitten

Erik Condra is our Michi-gamer of the night after scoring a beauty of a goal in the second period against Washington last night. His Senators lost 5-3, but it wasn’t for a lack of hustle from the Trenton native.

Check it out

The Red Wings will be out ringing Salvation Army bells tomorrow. If you see one, you better donate, or you might get hip-checked into the grocery store walls. Four different duos will be competing to see who can raise the most money.

Next up

Like I mentioned earlier, Wings tonight, then Spartans vs. Wolverines Friday and Saturday. It’s going to be a good weekend.
