• The No. 2 ranked Wolverines open their CCHA regular season on the road this weekend, taking on Northern Michigan.
• The Spartans are preparing for their first home games in almost a month. They host the Buckeyes for a Thursday/Friday two-game series.
• Both of Michigan’s OHL teams are preparing for grueling weekends. The Whalers play three games in three nights starting tomorrow and the Spirit play in Brampton tonight, then head out to Peterborough and Oshawa for Saturday/Sunday games. We’ll keep you posted on how all these teams fare this weekend.

In the lone NHL game last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs needed a shootout to get past Winnipeg. The Jets have recorded only one win in their first five games since their move from Atlanta over the off-season.

The Wings have been doing some interesting things during their extended break. First, they went out to local businesses to surprise employees and customers during their “Hockeytown Thanks” tour. Then, yesterday, they had a team-building exercise that included guns. Big guns.
